This weekend we will be taking a look at the various music events going on around town. Everything from tribute concerts, to musicals, to dj sets, even a very special tribute exhibition, is included in this week’s roundup of events.
Winds of Change Art Auction and Benefit Concert: November 14 – House of Blues, West Hollywood
Normally benefit concerts are a crap shoot when it comes to the actual talent playing at the event, but in this case Sunday’s Winds of Change art auction and concert will feature a rather eclectic and unique lineup that is set to feature the likes of The Guilty Pleasures, Paula Nelson (daughter of country musician Willy Nelson), and famed Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. The concert benefits the Catalyst Foundation, which is an organization that helps homeless people who are infected with HIV and AIDS.
Michael Jackson, A Musical Legacy: November 11 – GRAMMY Museum at LA Live, Downtown
The recently opened GRAMMY Museum, located right in the middle of downtown’s LA Live will be offering visitors a unique and intimate look into the life of pop music’s most iconic figure. The exhibit will feature some of the performers most iconic wardrobe pieces up on display, as well as videos of some of his most memorable performances, and much more.
Randy Newman’s Harps and Angels: November 12 – December 22 – Mark Taper Forum, Downtown
This weekend marks the world premier of the musical Harps and Angels, which is directed and composed by famed musician Randy Newman. The musical is centered around “what it is like to be born, grow up, fall in love, and live and die in America.
AFI Fest 2010: November 11-13 – Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood
The AFI festival wraps this weekend with an all star line up of films playing all throughout Saturday night, including famed director Werner Herzog’s film, “Cave of Forgotten Dreams.” The AFI Fest will bring the best of the world’s cinema to Hollywood as films will be shown not just at the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre but, also the Mann Chinese 6 at the Hollywood and Highland center, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sondre Lerche DJ Set: November 13 – Sky Bar at the Mondrian Hotel, West Hollywood
Norwegian singer/songwriter/guitarist Sound Lerche, will bring his unique sounds poolside at the Skybar in the Mondrian Hotel as he will be playing a concert this upcoming Saturday Night.
