Looking for something fun to do this Summer? Being outdoors is what Summer is all about, and everyone loves movies. Combine the two and you have a perfect combination for Summer fun! Anyone can go to a movie theater to watch new releases so why not try something different. Watch old favorites outdoors in the capital of the entertainment industry. If you will be at one of the places to stay in Hollywood CA this Summer be sure to check out the 2nd annual Oscars Outdoors.
Oscars Outdoors will kick off this year’s Summer selection on June 5 with the screening of Much Ado About Nothing, a film by Joss Whedon. The film, which is a romantic comedy, is a modern take on the Shakespeare play with the same name. Opening night will be especially memorable because the entire cast as well as Joss Whedon will be present at the screening. A Q&A session will also be held afterwards, and audience members will have the chance to interact with the cast. A total of 25 films will be screened throughout the Summer until the end of August. There will be many longtime favorites playing throughout the Summer including Grease, Peter Pan, Clueless, Vertigo, Rushmore, and many more!
All screenings will take place at The Academy Hollywood campus. The venue features a 40 x 20 foot screen and a 10,000 square-foot plaza. Since the screenings will take place outdoors, be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets to make yourself comfortable. Though it is Summer, be prepared with warm clothing in case it cools down. Food trucks will be present in case you get hungry or you can pack your own picnic basket. Beer and wine are also permitted for those over 21. Unfortunately, no pets will be allowed to the screenings (with the exception of service animals). Tickets will sell out! So be sure to purchase them in advance.
