In Alpine Village every winter, the longest running and largest celebration of Oktoberfest in the whole of Southern California comes alive with beers, music and traditional food all in one place. In a unique location just 10 miles away from the famous beautiful beaches for which Southern California is so well known, a taste of Germany is available to everyone. For 2013, the Oktoberfest celebrations will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sundays between September 13th and October 27th. This year is also the 46th consecutive Oktoberfest in Alpine Village, named as one of the best in the world by leading publication USA Today.
Of course, the main attraction to an Oktoberfest is always the beer. Sponsored by Warsteiner and Konig Ludwig for this year, both breweries will be bringing some of the finest drinks in the old world to the party, alongside the numerous other beverages available in the venues. Each Friday and Saturday evening event, between 6pm and midnight, is aimed towards adult guests – louder and more raucous, with beer flowing and a fantastic atmosphere. Entry on these nights is for those 21 and over, with valid ID. On Sunday afternoons, between 1pm and 6pm, the whole family is invited to play games, enjoy sweet treats and see the kiddie jumpers. Children under 12 years old have free entry on Sundays, as do those in proper fancy dress dirndl or lederhosen! Every day of the Oktoberfest, though, whether for adults or children or both, will have all the oom-pah-pah music and sing-a-longs that you would expect. Don’t miss out on this yearly event if you’re staying in the Hollywood area.
Entertainment is a large part of the Oktoberfest experience, and this year Alpine Village is thrilled to celebrate the amazing Festmeister Hans Baumgaertner as Master of Ceremonies. Fridays and Saturday nights are a tribute to him and to Heino! – the ‘voice of Germany!’ Live music, sing-a-long sessions and bier prosting are accompanied by the chicken dance at various points in the evening, giving entertainment for everyone.
