For 20 years, Los Angeles has hosted the LA Film Fest presented by Film Independent. Each year, the Film Fest pools together nearly 200 feature length films, short films, documentaries, and music videos from all over the country. Not only that though, there will also be movies, films, and shorts from over 40 countries. This year, the 20th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Film Festival will take place from June 11th through the 19th at L.A. Live, located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. While staying in Hollywood, movie lovers should not miss how this exciting event unfolds!
Each year, there are certain aspects of the Film Fest that occur – namely the fan favorites. These include the Filmmaker Retreat, an event entitled Celebrating Women Filmmakers, Master Classes which includes panels from people in the industry, and Poolside Chats. Other events include the Spirit of Independence Award and the Music in Film Nights at the GRAMMY Museum.
This year, aside from those favorites, there will be a new section that is launching in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Film Fest. The new section will be entitled LA Muse. This section honors Los Angeles with the fact that is has been a muse for a number of different artists from different medias for hundreds of years. From downtown, to Chinatown, to the historic Echo Park, the city of Angels truly has been a muse to artists as they have journeyed to find their own voice and can share their story in the medium of their choice. In order to honor this great city that has been a friend to artists, there will be a cinematic reflection program that will consist of performances, panels, and films.
This event will also screen a number of short films that were created by exceptionally talented high school students. Awards will be given out, including Best Narrative Feature and Audience awards.
