Get Ready for the Oscars!

January and February are Hollywood’s Awards season with the People’s Choice Awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors’ Guild Awards, the Grammys and the Oscars. These awards ceremonies are held in several different locations in Los Angeles, including the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the Nokia Theatre, the Staples Center and the Kodak Theatre. In preparation for Oscar Night (February 26), many theaters in Hollywood are screening the nominees during the next two weeks. Read below for descriptions of Oscar related events happening this week in Hollywood!

Oscar-Nominated Short Films 2012: Animated & Live, until February 23, multiple screenings

Landmark Nuart Theatre, West Hollywood

The Nuart Theare is screening the hard-to-find Oscar nominated short films so that you can see them before awards night!  Show times start at noon and go until 9:40pm. Tickets are $8.50 to $10.50. To buy tickets, click on the link above.

The Coterie @ The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel

Celebrate awards season by coming to a concert event featuring all Academy Award-nominated songs next door to the Oscars! Music from Fred & Ginger, Judy Garland, FAME and much more will be played. Tickets are $10-$30 depending on seating. A two item minimum applies for each dining room ticket and one minimum for standing room ticket.

Oscar-Nominated Documentary Shorts of 2011, February 17, 7:30pm

Egyptian Theatre

This screening is sold out on Fandango, but there are still tickets on sale at the Box Office.  The American Cinematheque is screening four of the Oscar nominated documentary shorts in a 130 minute presentation. Shorts that will be presented include “The Tsunami and the Cherry Blosson,” “Incident in New Baghdad,” “Saving Face” and “The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement.” General admission is $11, and $7 for Cinematheque members. Students and seniors with valid ID can watch for $9. To buy tickets, visit the Box Office at the Egyptian Theatre.
