It’s beginning to look like Christmas everywhere in Los Angeles! With decorations at the Grove, ice skating rinks in Santa Monica and Downtown LA and occasional weather below 70 degrees, the holidays are definitely underway. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Downtown LA will be hosting the 52nd annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration on December 24. It’s a great event to celebrate music and the holiday season in Los Angeles!
Choirs, music ensembles and dance companies from the many cultures of Los Angeles will all come together to celebrate the holidays during this free three-hour event of the season. The diverse neighborhoods and cultures of Los Angeles and Southern California converge into a musical event for all to enjoy. The concert is funded as a gift to the public from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
The entire three-hour performance will be broadcast on KCET public television live. It will also air on KCET.org, KPFK 90.7 FM and KPFK.org with repeat airings on KCET and KCET.org from 8pm to 11pm.
Admission and parking is completely free, but seats are limited. It is recommended that you arrive early or plan to wait in line for audience members to leave. Pre-show activities begin at 12:30pm for a celebration that lasts all afternoon! No wristbands, reservations or tickets are required to enter this year as guests can come and go throughout the show.
This celebration has been held every year by the Arts Commission since 1959 on Christmas Eve. More than 5000 people attend the program every year, and around a million Southern Californians catch the live broadcast at home. It is a vital part of Southern California’s holiday season that you can’t miss this year!
