Get your Groove On at the JazzReggae Festival at UCLA!

jazz music

Join music lovers of all ages for the 28th annual Jazz and Reggae Festival at UCLA! This year the festival will be May 25th and 26th. The festival is the largest student-run festival in the entire nation and was completely founded and started by the students of UCLA. Join students and members of the community in celebrating the soulful vibes and culture that jazz and reggae music has to offer. Students, residents, jazz and reggae music fans staying in hotels close to UCLA are strongly encouraged to attend this highly enjoyable festival!

Aside from a diverse celebration of music, JazzReggae will also be providing arts and crafts and even various types of cuisines from all over the world. At the crafts booth, you will be able to shop for clothing, various accessories, original artwork, and even hand made creations by local artists. As for food, this year, they will have vendors offering Jamaican, Ethiopian, and Thai foods just to name a few!

The mission of the festival aims to gather the community in a celebration of art. It is their desire to engage the community in the artistic process by offering the opportunity to peek at the creative development – leading to a greater sense of appreciation for art! In order to do this, JazzReggae will be providing a live art station in order to showcase pieces from some of the best artists in the greater Los Angeles area.

Remember to bring a reusable water container, as free water stations will be offered throughout the festival in order to lower the environmental impact of the festival. Even the vendors have the goal of creating zero waste. There will be recyclable and compostable forks and knives, plates and cups. They will even be partnering with Biotane Fuels, a company that picks up leftover cooking oil to convert to biodiesel.

Admission is $35 and children under the age of 8 get in for free. If you are interested, you can purchase a 2 day pass for $60 which will be sold up until 11 a.m. on 5/24. If you buy tickets the day of, it will cost $40. If you are looking to enjoy the experience in a different way, consider purchasing the deluxe ticket for $65. The deluxe ticket will allow you to enjoy the festival feeling like a VIP. You can get out of the sun, have unlimited beverages, catered meal, have comfortable seating, and gain exclusive access to an area that is completely shaded next to the main stage.
