What are you going to do during your 4th of July weekend? If you’re not sure what your plans are, consider going to the Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 3rd through the 6th. Anime Expo, or AX, is the largest anime and manga convention in all of North America. Once again, AX will have all the things that you love. From panels to concerts, they have it all. This is a great opportunity to share your love of anime and manga, meet others, play video games, tabletop games, dress up in cosplay and more! If you love anime or manga and plan to stay at hotels close to the Anaheim Convention Center, be sure to come out to this event!
Back by popular demand is the masquerade. It is one of the longest and most loved traditions at AX where people from all over the world bring their finest competition. Come see excellent costumes, performances, and the competition, “Best of Show.” The masquerade is something you definitely won’t want to miss. In addition to the masquerade, there will also be a number of programs, such as workshops and panels. Come learn more about the industry, and even witness fan discussions that cover questions such as “Who is the Greatest Mecha Ever?” There will also be interactive sessions that will allow you to learn a new skill such as dancing, origami, and glowsticking!
One of the more recent additions to AX is Lounge 21. Come to Lounge 21 to relax, have some drinks, and watch performances from Chii Sakurabi and Jennifer Cihi – singing voice of Sailor Moon, just to name a few. If you don’t want to relax and dancing is more your style, then attend the AX Dance – an EDM after party that will occur all four nights! From music to House to J-Pop, DJ’s will be playing it all. There are even nightly themes so you can dress up if you’d like! Other events include a manga lounge, where you can kick back and read your favorite manga, video and tabletop game competitions, last comic standing, go on a scavenger hunt, and watch an Otaku parliamentary debate about all things anime.
