Los Angeles is known for being a great tourist destination and that is not without reason. Los Angeles is filled with fun and interesting places to see and things to do. Here’s just a sampling of fun and free things to do in Los Angeles with friends and family!
One thing you cannot miss out on is visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As you walk around, have fun and find all the stars and celebrities that you love. The Walk of Fame is located on Hollywood Boulevard, and there are many stars to find so be sure to bring your camera! Another unique thing to do is to visit the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park. The Griffith Observatory is a completely FREE astronomy museum that you can go to in order to learn more about the planets and space. They also have talks and planetarium shows that you can attend for a small fee. During the summer, be sure to go during the evenings and visit the observation deck. Since the Observatory is up on a mountain, it offers an excellent view of the city below.
Nearby the Observatory is the legendary Hollywood Sign. A trip to Hollywood is incomplete without a viewing of this iconic sign. Although the actual sign is gated off for the protection of viewers, there are many ways to get pretty close. For example, taking a trail at Griffith Park is one great way to do so. If you look north from Hollywood Blvd, you will also be able to see the sign, especially on a clear day.
Although Southern California is known for their beaches, the boardwalk at Venice Beach is a unique experience that you won’t want to miss out on. The boardwalk is a great place to walk around and enjoy the day with friends as you look at all kinds of vendors selling shirts, trinkets, jewelry, and more! There are always various street performers, from breakdancers to singers, which always entertain. Parking is available for around $15, but it is worth it as parking in the neighborhood can be hard to find.
Another unique experience is a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits. The La Brea Tar Pits is in Hancock Park, which is located next to the LA County Museum of Art. The La Brea Tar Pits is unique because it is the greatest source of historic fossils that has ever been found and excavated! Another great thing is that it is completely FREE to walk around the park and view the outdoor exhibits.
