Dance the Summer Away at the Autry and Downtown this Week!

There’s plenty to get your feet moving if you’re staying in Los Angeles hotels this week! Thursday nights just got a little bit moreSizzling Summer Nights interesting with Sizzling Summer Nights at the Autry. The sounds of mambo, son, charanga, and Afro-Cuban beats will fill the Autry Plaza with energy all summer.

Salsa dance lessons will be taught by Trish Connery of Dance Chatter to get the night started at 5:30pm. There is a separate dance floor for kids, so feel free to bring them along! The taco and drink bar opens at 6pm with plenty of margaritas to get you dancing. The museum and Autry store stay open until 8pm, but feel free to dance up until the band stops playing at 9pm.

Sizzling Summer Nights is free for Autry members and $10 for adults. Students and seniors can attend for $6. Children ages 3-12 are $4 and children under 3 are admitted for free. Watch this video for a taste of  Sizzling Summer Nights at the Autry.

This Thursday, August 2 is Girl Scout night! Girl Scouts get in for a discounted group rate of $3.20 per Scout. The leader gets in for free with 6 Scouts. Scout family members also get a $2 off discount. Octavio Figueroa y La Combinacion will provide music for this Girl Scouts Dance Party!  The rest of August’s schedule is as follows:

If you’re in the mood for even more music this weekend, the Hard Summer Music Festival is happening at Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown. Expect more than 50 acts featuring electronic dance music. Indie rock band Bloc Party is headlining Friday, August 3. Dance and funk music will dominate the night with Boys Noze, Miike Snow, Bootsy Collins & The Funk Unity Band playing along with many others.

Saturday’s lineup features residents of Downtown Los Angeles: Skrillex of the Arts District and Historic Core resident John Dadzie (12 Planet), and Dillon Francis. Nero, Gaslamp Killer and the Bloody Beetroots will also play. For more information on Hard Summer Music Festival, visit
