If you love short films or cinema in general, consider coming out to the 18th annual Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Held in North Hollywood and hosted by the LA Shorts Fest, the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival is from July 24th through the 31st. Film lovers staying at hotels close to North Hollywood would not want to miss out on this must-see event!
The LA Short Film Fest is one of the largest and most prestigious short film festivals internationally. It is also the only festival that has an astounding 7 awards recognized by the academy, and many of the films even receive Oscar nominations. This event will be held in Laemmle NoHo 7 Theaters, which is located at 5240 Lankershim Blvd. This year, there will be a special Disney animation screening followed by a panel discussion. This event called, The Tunes Behind the Toons, will take place on Tuesday, July 29th at 10am. Disney movies are known for their incredible soundtracks that help make the characters come to live. During the talk, listen to award-winning composers as they share their thoughts and insights about making music. The viewing will be of Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story. Blank is a stop-motion animated film that is 38 minutes long. The movie is about Blank, an unpainted Vinylmation, who is on a journey through a completely original new world as he tries to find his lost soul mate. It is an original and heartwarming love story filmed entirely through stop-motion. It is definitely something you will not want to miss.
General Admission for a film screening is $13. If you would like to attend the opening night film reception and program, tickets are $30. The Awards Ceremony, which is held on the last day, is also $30. An all access pass is available for $199. The all access pass includes priority admission to the opening night and reception, tickets to all the film programs, a reading of the screenplay finalist, and admission to the awards ceremony.
