One of the best ways to enjoy a summer evening in Los Angeles is at an outdoor movie screening. Summer may be almost ever, but luckily there are still plenty of screenings going on! The Barnsdall Art Park Foundation is holding screenings of recent and popular movies all throughout September and October. All movies are screened on the West Lawn of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, on Olive Hill.
You are allowed to bring your soft drinks, food and picnic, but no outside alcohol will be permitted. Drinks will also be served by City Sip from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, with the screening beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets for drinks, a 3-glass flight and the movie will be $25. Additional glasses will cost an extra $5. All screenings are 17+ to attend and 21+ to drink. Please bring valid photo ID if you plan to purchase drinks.
So bring a blanket or low lawn chair and a picnic to enjoy the show! Heirloom LA and Border Grill Truck will also be serving food in the motor court outside of the Hollyhock house. It is also suggested that you bring warm clothes or hats for when the sun goes down.
This year’s films were selected because they showcase the architectural and historical unique features of Los Angeles.
September 22 – Edward Scissorhands
September 29 – Swingers
October 6 – Gattaca
October 13 – Sunset Boulevard
October 20 – Laurel Canyon
October 27 – House on Haunted Hill
If you’re looking for places to stay in Hollywood after the show, be sure to check out the Hollywood Hotel! It is located within walking distance of Barnsdall Park. You can also take the Metro Red Line to Vermont/Sunset. Parking is available for free at the top and bottom of Barnesdall Art Park or at the Kaiser Hospital on Sunset just west of Vermont Avenue.
