Do you love to sail? Are you a WWII or Vietnam War buff? Looking for a fun event that’s good for the whole family? If so, come out to the LA harbor for the 2014 Tall Ships Festival – also known as the greatest spectacle on the Pacific! The Tall Ships Festival is from August 20–24 and all are invited! If you already know of which hotel to stay at in Hollywood, then come out and see some of the most beautiful international and domestic ships sail into the LA harbor. There will also be some ships that fought in WWII and the Vietnam War!
At the Tall Ships Festival, not only do you have the opportunity to see these majestic ships, you can even get the opportunity to set foot on them as well! You may even get the chance to sail on them too! Imagine, sailing on the Pacific Ocean with the sea breeze rushing past you, in a historic and beautiful yacht! But, the Tall Ships Festival is not just about getting the rare chance to see these ships and yachts; it’s so much more than that!
Hang out at the LA port for even more fun at the Tall Ships Festival. There will be all kinds of genres of music playing. There will be Sea Shanty, Rock, Mexican, Jazz, Latin, Country, Big Band, and even dance music – or in other words, something for everyone! In addition, there will some of the L.A.’s best food trucks parked nearby so you can eat delicious foods as well. There will be wine tastings also, offering some of California’s finest wines. If you are more of a beer person, don’t worry. San Pedro Brewing Company will be offering a full menu of beers from some of the best brewers in the region. But that’s still not all!
There will even be movie screenings throughout the festival, projected on the sails of some of the ships! For the kids, there will be arts and crafts activities held throughout the festival. In addition, there will even be canon demonstrations, knot tying demonstrations, sail training opportunities, and even real sword fighting! A multi-day pass is only $19, single day tickets are $7 and children 1-4 years get in FREE. A pass gets you on the festival grounds, board tours of ships and activities. If you’d like to sail on a ship, a ticket is $85 per person.
